2 Promotions!

We have a couple promotions to tell everyone about!

  • Chad has been promoted to the Chat Divison Team, as well as a moderator with IRCnewbies.com. His email has not been set up at this point, we will announce it as soon as we have it available.
  • Chad is also training to move up in the ranks, give him a warm welcome! I think he’ll be an asset to our team.
  • BetterMan has been promoted to our Chat Divison Manager, with this position, he also becomes apart of the AOB, and will work hard in managing the webpage for everyone; again – I think Congrats are in order!

Along with the promotions, we haven’t officially launched The IRCNewbies.com project, and we’ve already hit the 20 member sign-up milestone. This says numbers about the team that I’ve worked hard to put in place, and I think with some hard work and dedication, this project may turn into something I’ve dreamed about running for years.

Thank you all for supporting this in the beginning stages, I am looking forward to the day everything is working properly on IRCnewbies.com instead of this wordpress site, however, I am going to miss the layout that’s provided by wordpress, and it’s easy availability. Again, thanks to everyone – Happy Holidays & Blessed New Years!

Official Launch NEARS!

« The Future of IRCNewbies.com »

On January 15th, 2011 www.ircnewbies.com will be returning; we have chosen a hosting company, and are in the process of building the webpage now. I am going to list a few of the nice changes that will take place with the page.

  1. We will not be using wordpress any longer – www.ircnewbies.com will be officially launched and fully functional (as stated, on January 15th, 2011).
  2. Users will be able to register an account on the webpage, create a profile, be contributors, etc.
  3. We will be doing a new staff structure; Administration will consist of 5 members. Out of these five admins, they hold 100% of the voting pool, 40% is held by the CEO, and then 15% held by each of the following; Chat Division Manager, Forum Manager, Advertising Manager, and Recruiting Manager. (The Advertising & Recruiting Manager are a new addition). Out of the 5 Admins, there are 3 members apart of the AOB (Administrative Oversight Board); This will be the CEO, followed by 2 other managers.
  4. We will be “linking” (..advertising) with other sources. I am going to place links to channels on various networks that have a webpage, and a couple other places. This is to draw in more users, which allows the community to be more diverse.
  5. The current forums are a toss-up, not sure if they’re staying or going. There will be forums, but may link them to your name when you register on the webpage.
  6. Emails will be provided to the first 250 members. (This is @ircnewbies.com) “Subject to Availability
  7. The current staff will stay staff, there position(s) may change, team may change, etc.
  8. Admin@ircnewbies.com is still active for members who want to learn how to become apart of the staff, etc.
  9. #Helpdesk (on webmaster) will be our official help channel for Webmaster.
  10. #IRC-Help (on DALnet) will be our official help channel for DALnet.

~ New Staff ~

Over the past couple of days, we here at IRCnewbies.com have been working hard to fill the positions that we had vacant. In an effort to better serve our users and community, we have made a couple of additions to our chat division and forum moderation team. Please welcome ABN and Arch to the IRCNewbies team! We look forwarded to working with both of these individuals and starting a couple more projects for these two to take on. Good luck to the both of you!

We have opened our chat channel to the public! Keep in mind, we’re still in the beta-test stages of this, however it’s fully functional at this moment.

This will also give us an idea of how many people are actually interested in participating with us!

Expansion!

I have decided to take IRCnewbies.com in a new direction. It will of course be primarily IRC related material, however, I have decided to add a couple additions. I am going to be adding a freebies section; I will link weekly links to various sites that will give their product(s) away 100% free, no gimmicks! The sites will be trusted sites, I will never point you in the wrong direction! The second section that I will be adding are websites to make some extra cash on, while you’re online. Generally, you’ll get paid through AlertPay, or Paypal (but free cash is still free cash! They all will be different payout amounts and such – Build a referral network, and earn quicker!

Another addition/change will be to our forums, we will allow you to post referral links to other websites and such. Each post will first be moderated to ensure the link(s) are appropriate & safe.  This will allow our members to build a referral network of their own!

I have a couple new changes coming besides though, but that’s enough for now! :)

mIRC NEWS: Version 7.15 was leased to the community last week. I apologize for the delay.. holiday season is in effect!

Welcome!

Welcome to the official IRCnewbies wordpress account. This is an extension of our official website, you can visit that webpage by clicking here! IRCnewbies project was launched on October 11th, 2010 & is currently still in the developemental stages. With the advanced changes coming to mIRC/IRC, including JmIRC (Java Mobile Internet Relay Chat), we felt that there was a need for a modernized version of IRC assistance. We hope that you enjoy our webpage(s), and let us know if you’re interested in joining any of our divisions within IRCnewbies!

So What exactly is IRC, you ask? IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat, and a majority of users who enjoy IRC use the mIRC client in order to connect to a chat network. The network is created (generally by a group of volunteers) and allows you to chat with anyone else on that particular network. You will find thousands of channels on each network. A channel is generally represented with the # symbol. For example, if you wanted to chat in the channel #mirc, you would use /join (or /j) #mIRC and you would enter that channel, see a list of all the other users in that channel, and then start chatting.

You can download the mIRC client for free by going to their webpage. As of today, the most current version if 7.15, which was released in November of 2010. There have been several updates in this version, we recommend using it! Click Here to open a separate window and see more information on the mIRC client. Keep in mind, mIRC is considered shareware; it comes with a 30 day free trial, and then recommends that you pay $20 for the registration. You do not have to register, though highly recommended.
