The NewsRoom

This section is designed for our members to see updates and changes that have occured, and when they’ve occured. This list is updated any time(s) there is a change made – this includes website changes, staff additions/removals, mIRC releases, etc.

April 18th, 2012 updates:

  1. [ADDITION] Several Additions to the team; MindKill was brought onto the team as an administrator, and his official position will be announced at a later date. ScottPilgrim was brought in as a chat division member & is in training to be apart of the Chat Division Leader.
  2. [Help Files] I am working on several help files that will be added to the website in the next couple of days. There will be a help file for the JmIRC client, as well as information about the next version of mIRC (7.23) which is not released yet; there will also be help files on other various sections of mIRC.
  3. [Updates] Every section of the website was updated. Including the documents pages, home page, staff page, and this section. The only part of the page that was not updated was the about us section, there was no need to update that section. That section will be updated at a later date.

    November 08th, 2011 updates:

    1. [ADDITION] I have added a new link to the IRCnewbies.com website. You’ll now notice a link that will direct you to the DALnet’s #Teen chat channel website. The site provides details about the channel, the staff, the policies. etc.
    2. [POST] Made a new post about my absence, etc.
    3. [mIRC] Information/Details about the latest version of mIRC that has been released. mIRC is now on version 7.22, and came out in October, 2011. It’s hard to believe how many versions of this product have been released, and the sad thing is, I think since I first started using mIRC, I have seen approximately 50 new releases. It’s quite amazing, and it’s even more incredible the amount of changes that have occured over the years. It’s impressive to see the hard work that Khaled and his associates have put into this product, even through the decline of IRC, new mIRC versions are being completed, and supporting more and more!
    4. [STAFF] Due to the lack of communication (via: staff) a lot of things have not been getting done on a timely fashion, and quite a few things have been at a stand-still, therefore, I am talking to a few of my friends in the real world about having them dedicate some of their time to assist me. Heck, if I can help plan their wedding, and birthdays, and be there for whatever else they need, then they can help me out with some things on here, lol. Another reason for the staff changes to come is in order to build a successful project or projects, I need staff that are going to represent themselves in a professional, non-abusive, non-powertripping, and appropriate manners.
    5. [CHANNELS] I will be adding a channels section to the website tonight. This will include channels that I own, channels owned by friends, and channels trusted by myself & the IRCnewbies.com team. I am going to break down the guide into sections; from general chat channels, kids channels, teen channels, help channels, adult channels, trivia channels, etc.
    6. [NEWSLETTER] I am going to work on setting up the mailing list tonight as well, it’ll be sent out approximately once per month, through an email. It will be sent out in a newsletter layout, and will include various sections as well. I am also going to be recruiting people from DALnet that may want to contribute stories; including world news, DALnet news, and even a section where someone can talk about their channel. (ie: Channel of the month).

    June 27th, 2011 updates:

    1. I have basically left Webchat (Webnet/Webmaster) 100%. It’s mainly DALnet only nowadays.
    2. ABN and I have still been hard at work. We’ve decided to remove the staff members that we currently have due to lack of dedication, and other reason(s).
    3. We have finally found someone to do the website design, thanks to Tranced on getting this set in place. We hope to have the completed website done before August of 2011. We have a lot of material to get added, but hopefully we will be saying ‘goodbye’ to the wordpress site at that time.
    4. We have a few channels on DALnet. #TeenFactory (mIRC favorites channel), #mIRCSupport (another mIRC favorites channel), #Beginners is still where we assist users, and #CyberAngels for internet security and support.
    5. We are working on linking with DALnet’s #mIRC team when the website officially launches. This would not only help their channel out, but would help our site out a bit as well. I think it would be great team! We hope that everything on this goes well, and HorseC (#mIRC’s founder) accepts the link. We’re sending him the material asap.
    6. We have not added any new staff members since the removal of the others, however we have a few fresh faces helping us out. We’d like to thank Tranced (from #ChatAway), dragonlair (owner of #webchat on DALnet), HorseC (#mIRC’s founder), Respected (#DALnetNews founder), and I would also like to thank ABN for all his hard work on contributions to the team. I am glad that I found someone so interested in this project as much as I am!
    7. The IRCNewbies.com webpage is now averaging 2,000+ unique hits per month. This is without the official launch that I keep talking about, and basically all word-of-mouth advertising. This is quite the milestone for me, as well as ABN. However, we couldn’t have done it without the most important person/people — YOU! So thank you for everything — you all make me want to work even harder to bring you the best that we possibly can. 2,000 hits a month, can you believe it?

    March 18th, 2011 updates:

    1. I have working with ^Drew^ (on DALnet, known as Andrew) with the vhost list(s), the set-ups, and eggdrops.
    2. I have noticed that ABN has been settling in nice as the COO (Co-Founder) of http://ircnewbies.com – Great to have him aboard!
    3. We will be having a complete staff meeting within the next couple of weeks. Working with Roi_Scorpion and ABN in getting this set up.
    4. I have added all the new members of the forums over under the staff section here as  forum members, including links to their bios. Check them out when you get a moment.
    5. Everything is still set in place, just takes a lot more time than I originally thought on getting everything working, and to my satisfacation!

    February 19th, 2011 updates:

    1. I have still been working on getting everything set in place. I haven’t forgotten about this project or anything; just been trying to make sure we have the set staff, forums, etc before the official launch.
    2. I have promoted ABN to the position of COO – which is considered ChairMan of Operations. He is considered 2nd in command, and is apart of the IRCNewbies©® office. With this position, ABN has a share in IRCNewbies®© and will assist in all of the administrative decision(s) that occur.
    3. We have been thinking of additions to IRCNewbies, the following additions that will be on IRCNewbies are as follows: 1. IRCNewbies Store - 2. Toll-Free Support for Sales, Ads, and Customer Service3. Unique Profiling.
    4. Meetings & Training will take place, hopefully soon, with the first test-run of vhost usage to follow.

    December 19th, 2010 updates:

    1. We are pleased to announce that Chad has joined our Chat Division Team, as well as our forum moderator team. He is currently still getting the feel for everything around the webpage, and we’re sure he’ll fit right in!
    2. BetterMan has been promoted to our Chat Division Manager (CDM) and has officially been announced as a member of the AOB with the official launch coming in January 2011.
    3. Have made a decision on our Lead Forum Manager position, I will be getting with this person in the next few days to see if he/she will be accepting their new position.
    4. Hosting set in place – Working with a professional development team, domain will have it’s registration expanded through 2016.
    5. Vhosts are almost completed – Will announce the vhosts staff will use soon.
    6. Updated the forums, the staff page, and webpage in general.

    December 08th, 2010 updates:

    1. Forum theme was changed to it’s christmas theme. I’m not sure if this is going to last until christmas, but it’s there for now.
    2. Updated the staff page, included the updated emails of our newest moderators ABN & Arch. They have both been doing rather well, and with the expansion of IRCnewbies.com on the way, will one (or both) of them make it to the AOB?
    3. Hosting for IRCnewbies.com is now in progress, I plan on releasing the new webpage (with it’s new hosting – so goodbye to wordpress) on January 15th, 2011.
    4. Started to work on the forum rules & guidelines page; will be available soon.
    5. Brain-storming how we’ll run the page once the hosting is in place. I know users will now be able to register an account on our webpage instead of just our forums, profiles will be available, and much more!
    6. IRCnewbies.com will also be releasing the complete layout for the new webpage within the next few days..

    November 28th, 2010 updates:

    1. We have added ABN to our moderator team/chat division. His email account with IRCnewbies is still pending, when the appropriate email has been decided, it will be made available on the webpage.
    2. We have added Arch to our moderator team/chat division. His email account with IRCNewbies is still pending, when the appropriate email has been decided, it will be made available on the webpage.

    November 21st, 2010 updates:

    1. We are going in a completely new direction. We are looking to change our domain name to something a bit different, we just haven’t decided of the name as of yet. We are going to continue to provide online assistance, however, we’re also leaning towards making extra cash, allowing freebie discussions, and more something I am extremely excited about is the addition of our chat channel. This will allow members to communicate with one another on a ‘live’ basis. Granted, our forums are still a great way of communicating, however the chat channel makes it a little easier to interact with others.
    2. I am going to start advertising our domain name, but one thing – the domain name is now forwarded to our wordpress hosting. I really like the amount of freedom you have while using wordpress, so I am letting go of my premium hosting & domain providing company in an effort to better serve our community.
    3. I am going to put together a monthly newsletter, and would eventually like to find some members to assist me with the material that the newsletter will provide. I’d like to have individual sections based on freebies, Paid-to-click websites, and much more.
    4. We have officially added the ‘Earn Cash’ link to the website, we only have a couple of paid-to-click webpages available at the moment, but this will expand over the next few days. I will also ensure that we organize that section to better provide to our members.
    5. My domain is averaging 600+ unique visits per day, with the domain forwarding set in place, maybe we can pick up some traffic on our newly designed wordpress webpage!? Here’s to hoping!

The news was last updated on March 18th, 2011 at 0442pm EST. There were a total of 5 additions in the section.
