About Us

So you’d like to know a little about the IRCnewbies project?

First off, the project was started on October 11th, 2010. After chatting and helping on DALnet for 14 years (yes 14 years), and being a CSOp with Webchat for nearly 7 years, I wanted to find  a way to help IRC/mIRC users alike. Ranging from general help, scripting, jmirc, java, and more. Assisting users in a chat channel was a constant routine for me each day, and with the launch of this project, I figured it was a way to help more than just those who make it to a help channel on an IRC network. A webpage can reach millions of members – including those who have never heard of IRC, mIRC, etc.

I’m currently still in the beginning stages of this project, and so far I feel a little overwhelmed. I am currently working with the mIRC creator (the god!) haha. Khaled, and his assistant (Tjerk) in having IRCnewbies.com listed in the url’s section of the next version of mIRC. We’re averaging just over 550 unique hits every couple of days, and that would be a great way to improve the numbers and be able to help millions of users!

My vision for this project is to provide a few things.

1. Provide official channels across various IRC networks for users to chat, while being secure, assisted, and directed in the right directions. We all know when you first start using IRC, it can be a little intimidating! This is called our Chat Divison.

2. Provide forums for members who frequent IRCnewbies to sign up, chat, help, or get help on various IRC topics. We’ll also provide IRC news, JmIRC help, and much more advanced assistance. This is our Forum Team.

3. Eventually we’d like to open the IRCnewbies network (irc.ircnewbies.com, chat.ircnewbies.com) – this would go along with our Chat Division.

4. We want to create a documentation library. This would allow users to search and view instantly a guide to whatever help they’re looking for. The documentation team.

And I have a few other ideas that I will post about when I get more time!

I hope to get this project off the ground, and am looking for people who have IRC knowledge, and more. I am accepting emails through admin@ircnewbies.com & will answer any question(s) that you may have!

Thanks for taking the time to read about IRCnewbies - www.ircnewbies.com — Happy IRC’ing!
